The Dujiangyan Irrigation System is a pearl in the water works construction of ancient China. Built over 2,200 years ago, it still provides benefits for the people. The irrigation system was erected on the Minjiang River in the Sichuan province.
I doubt this bit was built 2,200 years ago. I wasn't that interested when told we were going to see an irrigation system but was pleasantly surprised. The taoist religion also developed in this area so the side of the mountain is dotted with temples and beautiful gardens which we also visited.
