Awwww. What a cutie-pie, Aussie. Do you know what bird this is?
Aussie: Kookaburra

What do these eat? That beak is enormous.
Aussie: snakes, mice, lizards.

Very fine shot of the Kookaburra aka Giant Kingfisher aka Laughing Jackass, Aussie.

Clearly you got its best side.

I always thought Kookaburra is cricket equipment.

You did catch its best side and made a great picture of it.

It still amazes me that when I finally found one in Au that it was a type of kingfisher, so instantly recognizable. You got a marvelous shot of this one.

..and you've done that well, Aussie. What a great little character. So it's a Kookaburra.. well, well; I've often wondered what that was.

Too sweet!! And such exquisite detail!!!
Cute Kookaburra, you seem to have quite close, is he/she a regular?
Well done, magnificent photo. I just wish there was something to give it scale. This looks like a smallish bird, and I always imagined a kookaburra to be a biggish bird.
Aussie: They are the largest of the kingfishers. approx 45 cm, but they are a well built bird not skinny by any means. Magpies are about the same size in heighth but much thinner.
beautiful bird, definitely its good side you got.
