A timber church that big would surprise me, too, Aussie, after all the stone churches we have seen here in Europe. I particularly like the crosses on both ends. You usually see only one?
It is a handsome building Aussie.

In Norway I saw Stave Kirken. (Log churches). Built on onusially think logs, insted of a foundation in the middle ages. Some started as pagan assembly points, without windows, then became Catholic with windows and later Lutheran churches. The same families sat on the church boards through the various conversions. Also the same people that made up the local town council. It said something about power seats and history to me.

Here is one of them http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrpb27/3241827041/ It seems to me they wooden structures last quite well.
Churches were certainly big and so were the congregations. Not so anymore though and small congregations are stuck trying to heat and cool these huge buildings.
Nice...
That is a very fine church Aussie.

For some reason I never think of using wood to build a church. Louis makes a point with the Stave Kirken.
Beautiful picture, love the POV and the framing.
nice imposing proportions here. the whites of the timbre look a cooler tone in the shade
Nicely framed by the trees. I really like the accent black line over each window.
