Beaconsfield Mine Museum

The mine  finally closed down after Larry Knight was killed and Grant Webb and Todd Russell were trapped for 14 days after a cave in. This wasn't the first major disaster here.

Fantastic photo Kerrin!
So sad it took such tragedy to get someone's attention.

You got around down there,is it tourist stop now or did you just drop in
Aussie: Very much a tourist stop. However it is really interesting. Lots of very old equipment and tools. Aaron flew over from Melbourne and spent 3 days with us. We were all interested in this one. If you go give the platypus and seahorse houses that are a 3 for 1 package a miss. Not worth the money.

Ouch! It reminds me of street intersections where they don't put up a stoplight until after x number of deaths. (sigh)

Sometimes a tragedy has to happen before action is taken.
I love this picture and I bet this was photographers heaven to you.
We tend to forget when getting all nostalgic about our industrial history that, at the time, it wasn't much fun if you actually had to work there

A great shot with the view on the outside well preserved. Must be a bit eerie to walk around in others' grave, so to speak.

I love that huge window but what a tragic place Aussie.
A great nostalgic shot Aussie!
It's like walking through the tragedy into the light... through your photo.
