photoblog image Male BLACK COCKATOO in flight

Male BLACK COCKATOO in flight

I wasn't quite so lucky with the male as he was more skiddish and took off before I was ready. Inconsiderate of him.

Before this encounter I had just seen the flash of red between the trees. The black cockatoos are a northern based bird whereas the white cockatoos the plentiful all over Australia.

They are magnificent in flight, l have had the pleasure of seeing them in the wild
That explains why I didn't see one.

This reminds me of our Lourie/Touraco birds that have this enormous flash of brilliant red when they fly. The camera is never ready sad
Still a great shot in the circumstances. (:o)

Great photo I have never see one yet
Aussie: When I was leaving work today there was a whole flock of them in a tree near my car, they took off together. What a fantastic sight and not a camera within sight. Mine was safely tucked in the bag at home.
A first yime for me. Fine capture Aussie.
Typical bloke Aussie...never about when you need 'em
The stalk and the hunt for this type of image gives great pleasure in the capture well done Mary.
