OMG, Aussie. This is fabulous because of the "skipped stone" effect in the water. It's MORE than decent!!

Aussie: It needed the B&W to bring the take off marks out. Very washed out in colour.

I keep going for this kind of shot, if I were you. It is fabulous! Such a strong sense of movement and it shows the effort required to get airborn. Great photograph. (:o)
Aussie: Ducks are at such a disadvantage, they have heavy bodies and they have to take off from water, so I guess it is hard work for them.

Great blurry with an excellent composition.

I have many times tried the 'running-on-water' with coots and ducks. No luck yet.
Aussie: I think what you call coots we call moorhens. I'll make sure I don't mention that I also got a pic of them running on water, on the same day. oops did I type that in.

Keep trying for the shot you want yes, but don't stop shooting these wonderful images as well. Coots have a white bill while Moorhens have a red bill. Have fun out there Aussie.

I like this.

I like the way you're focusing at the front of the picture, getting the droplets of water and I like the silhouettes vanishing into the distance, and also the action.
